Wire Wrapped Ammonite Pendant C

Handmade ammonite pendant wrapped in pure oxidized copper. Dimensions: 37 x 27 x 9 MM

Ammonites were predatory, squid like creatures that lived inside coil-shaped shells between 240 - 65 million years ago and went extinct with the dinosaurs. Ammonite shells are a naturally occurring example of the Fibonacci sequence in nature. The ammonite in this wire wrapped pendant is from Madagascar.

Quartz crystal, amethyst, and peridot polished gemstones accent this artisan jewelry. Smaller accents include copper and amber colored glass beads.

Steampunk Wire Wrapped Ammonite Pendant (B)

This handmade wire wrap pendant was wrapped with pure copper wire that flows beautifully around the ammonite fossil. The copper was then antiqued to give a nice rustic steampunk look. A microcrystalline wax was applied to the wire wrap to help preserve the oxidized finish.

Wire Wrapped Copper and Brass Labradorite Pendant

Just finished up this simple piece today. Wire wrapping was done in copper with a little bit of brass. And of course I antiqued the metal and polished it up. Stone in the middle is labradorite.

Labradorite is a beautiful mineral that can first appear plain and dull. By letting the light hit it at a different angles Labradorite can produce a colorful play of light across cleavage planes and in sliced sections called labradorescence. The usually intense colors range from the typical blues and violets through greens, yellows and oranges.

At this angle the labradorite looks like it has shooting stars or meteors across the surface of the gemstone.

Peridot is the official birthstone for the month of August and it is also the stone for the Zodiac sign of Libra and Astrological Signs of Leo, Virgo and Scorpio, and Sagittarius. Quartz crystal is one of earth's most common minerals and the most powerful, versatile multi-purpose healing stone. It is said that quartz crystals were used in Atlantis and Lemuria for rejuvenation. Edgar Cayce spoke about an energy stone in Atlantis. Mr. Cayce's description of the energy stone fits quartz crystal. The Bible mentions many gemstones, including quartz. There is much disagreement on the stones used in the Breastplate of Aaron (Ex. 28). In some translations of the Bible the sixth stone, which is the third stone of the second row is the diamond. Some scholars believe the sixth stone is rock crystal or quartz crystal. The diamond was not used until about 800 B.C.
