Ammonite Necklace

This handmade wire wrap pendant was wrapped with pure copper wire that flows beautifully around an ammonite fossil. The copper was then antiqued to give a rustic look.
You will receive the exact, unique, one of a kind, handmade, wire wrapped ammonite pendant shown in the photos.

Over 6 hours of craftsmanship went into the creation of this wire wrapped ammonite necklace pendant.

So the ammonite pendant can be worn right away; I've included a free adjustable slip knot 2mm wide black braided paracord. The cord is UV coated and resistant to mildew and rot.

About Ammonite

Ammonites were predatory, squid like creatures that lived inside coil-shaped shells between 240 - 65 million years ago and went extinct with the dinosaurs. Ammonite shells are a naturally occurring example of the Fibonacci sequence in nature. The ammonite in this wire wrapped pendant is from Madagascar.

This rectangle shaped blue labradorite pendant has a beautiful flash when viewed at the right angle and light. The labradorite gemstone is cradled in a solid sterling silver tree of life wire wrap. To accentuate the wire tree, I applied an antique finish and then polished the high areas to a bright luster. Over 8 hours of craftsmanship and polishing went into the creation of this handmade wire wrapped tree of life necklace pendant. What is Gold Filled?

Gold-filled is constructed in two or three layers. The core metal is jewelers’ brass. Gold-filled is legally required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. This 5% is then described by the karatage of the gold alloy. Most gold-filled is 12kt or 14kt gold-filled. Gold-filled is usually a lifetime product because the gold layer bonded to the brass core is quite thick.

Is gold-filled the same as gold plate?

No, gold plating is a miniscule layer of solid gold applied to a brass base. The plating does not compose any measurable proportion of the product’s total weight. It is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Gold plating will wear off rather quickly and expose the brass base product. It does not stand up to heat, water or wear over time. By comparison, gold-filled contains 5% gold by weight; moreover, all the gold is on the surface which offers product protection from tarnish and wear.
