The opal cabochon is damaged. While I was setting the opal, a piece broke off the top. I repaired the stone and the crack is only visible on the back of the pendant. I am offering this pendant at a reduced price of $80 +shipping (normal price $100) because of the damage. I'm pretty confident that the repair will not break or come apart.

Round Black Onyx & Garnet Wrapped In Sterling Silver

Solid sterling silver frame, weaved bail, and tree of life sculpture. Round 30 mm black onyx cabochon and 5 x 3 mm oval garnet.

After wire construction, the pendant was treated with a patina solution to add contrast to the wraps & twists in the wire. It also gives an overall antique look to the pendant.

Antiqued Copper Tree of Life Pendants

Simple tree of life design with no cabochon. Sturdy heavy gauge copper wire frame. Pendant bail, frame, and sculpted tree of life where hand wire wrapped with solid copper wire that was then antiqued to give an aged look.

This angled tree was inspired by the belfie (breastfeeding tree of life selfie) minus the actual selfie of the breastfeeding mother. I got the idea when a lady in a Facebook group told me about this trending internet thing.

These creatures lived in the seas between 240 - 65 million years ago, when they became extinct along with the dinosaurs.

This rectangle shaped blue labradorite pendant has a beautiful flash when viewed at the right angle and light. The labradorite gemstone is cradled in a solid sterling silver tree of life wire wrap. To accentuate the wire tree, I applied an antique finish and then polished the high areas to a bright luster. New Petri Style Resin Cabochon - Tree of Life Pendant

The first of many new petri art resin cabochons wrapped in a sterling silver tree of life pendant. This unique, OOAK (one-of-a-kind) tree of life pendant features my weaved bale design and was constructed with sterling silver wire. To accentuate the wrapped wire of the tree of life, I applied an antique finish and then polished the high areas to a bright luster.

Moonstone Necklace With Sterling Silver Wire Wrapped Tree of Life

Taking photographs of moonstone can be very difficult. To get the moonstone to glow requires low indirect lighting. But when you get the moonstone to flash under low lighting, the wire wrapped tree of life doesn't stand out well. So you have to position your lighting until you find a happy medium. Usually the moonstone cabochon or the wire wrapping may suffer slightly in the photograph. This one came out pretty well. I can tell ya though, if you see it in real life, it looks way better. The above handmade wire wrapped tree of life pendant with moonstone was taken with slightly more direct light. Hence why you see the white reflection of the lighting. This photography of the wire pendant is what I used to showcase the necklace. Photographing jewelry can be very hard. Especially when you have a flashy moonstone or a flashy labradorite!

In the above photograph I move the lights so they where more indirect. Doing this made the patina in the wrapped wire stand out more. It also makes the moonstone have a more crystal appearance.

Changing the background you use to photograph jewelry also has an affect on the shiny sterling silver. I'm still using indirect lighting in the photograph of the pendant. With this dark red stained wood as a background, I'm able to capture the dark shadows in the wire wrapped tree of life. 

I always try to include a photograph of my jewelry with a white background. When I do this, a lot of times it makes the sterling silver look a little yellow.

Behind the tree of life is a shimmery, 64ct round labradorite gemstone that dances and flashes in the light. The labradorite has flashy colors of green, gold, and blue. To accentuate the wrapped wire of the tree of life, I applied an antique finish and then polished the high areas to a bright lusher.

What is Gold Filled?
----------------------
Gold-filled is constructed in two or three layers. The core metal is jewelers’ brass. Gold-filled is legally required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. This 5% is then described by the karatage of the gold alloy. Most gold-filled is 12kt or 14kt gold-filled. Gold-filled is usually a lifetime product because the gold layer bonded to the brass core is quite thick.

Is gold-filled the same as gold plate?
--------------------------------------
No, gold plating is a miniscule layer of solid gold applied to a brass base. The plating does not compose any measurable proportion of the product’s total weight. It is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Gold plating will wear off rather quickly and expose the brass base product. It does not stand up to heat, water or wear over time. By comparison, gold-filled contains 5% gold by weight; moreover, all the gold is on the surface which offers product protection from tarnish and wear.

Dried Flowers & Resin - Tree of Life Necklace Pendant - Handmade Jewelry by Tim Whetsel

I was taking a hike in the mountains on the Skyline Trail in Southern California and found these beautiful dried wild flowers. I picked a bunch and brought them home and cast them in some resin.
