Moonstone Necklace With Sterling Silver Wire Wrapped Tree of Life

Taking photographs of moonstone can be very difficult. To get the moonstone to glow requires low indirect lighting. But when you get the moonstone to flash under low lighting, the wire wrapped tree of life doesn't stand out well. So you have to position your lighting until you find a happy medium. Usually the moonstone cabochon or the wire wrapping may suffer slightly in the photograph. This one came out pretty well. I can tell ya though, if you see it in real life, it looks way better. The above handmade wire wrapped tree of life pendant with moonstone was taken with slightly more direct light. Hence why you see the white reflection of the lighting. This photography of the wire pendant is what I used to showcase the necklace. Photographing jewelry can be very hard. Especially when you have a flashy moonstone or a flashy labradorite!

In the above photograph I move the lights so they where more indirect. Doing this made the patina in the wrapped wire stand out more. It also makes the moonstone have a more crystal appearance.

Changing the background you use to photograph jewelry also has an affect on the shiny sterling silver. I'm still using indirect lighting in the photograph of the pendant. With this dark red stained wood as a background, I'm able to capture the dark shadows in the wire wrapped tree of life. 

I always try to include a photograph of my jewelry with a white background. When I do this, a lot of times it makes the sterling silver look a little yellow.

Labradorite Tree of Life Necklace Pendant - Gold & Sterling Silver - Handmade Wire Wrapped Jewelry by Tim Whetsel

This round labradorite tree of life necklace pendant was constructed with 14kt gold filled & sterling silver wire. Behind the tree of life is a shimmery, 64ct round labradorite gemstone that dances and flashes in the light. The labradorite has flashy colors of green, gold, and blue. To accentuate the wrapped wire of the tree of life, I applied an antique finish and then polished the high areas to a bright lusher.

What is Gold Filled?
----------------------
Gold-filled is constructed in two or three layers. The core metal is jewelers’ brass. Gold-filled is legally required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. This 5% is then described by the karatage of the gold alloy. Most gold-filled is 12kt or 14kt gold-filled. Gold-filled is usually a lifetime product because the gold layer bonded to the brass core is quite thick.

Is gold-filled the same as gold plate?

No, gold plating is a miniscule layer of solid gold applied to a brass base. The plating does not compose any measurable proportion of the product’s total weight. It is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Gold plating will wear off rather quickly and expose the brass base product. It does not stand up to heat, water or wear over time. By comparison, gold-filled contains 5% gold by weight; moreover, all the gold is on the surface which offers product protection from tarnish and wear.

Dried Flowers & Resin - Tree of Life Necklace Pendant - Handmade Jewelry by Tim Whetsel

I was taking a hike in the mountains on the Skyline Trail in Southern California and found these beautiful dried wild flowers. I picked a bunch and brought them home and cast them in some resin. The cabochons came out awesome! Here is a sterling silver tree of life pendant made with my new wild flowers cabochon. It came out so well that I made 5 more of these resin and wildflower cabochons. This is a new kind of orgonite that I made right before Christmas. I made plenty of wire wrapped tree of life pendants right before Christmas and sold all of them! Wish I made more! I do have one in my shop now. This is my new opalescent orgonite that glows in the dark. It dances with blues and greens as the light hits it and the pendant moves. I knew these opalescent orgonite cabochons where going to be a hot seller in my tree of life pendants. Since then I've made a lot more of these cabochons and will be wrapping them into pendants over the next few months. If I'm out of these, send me a message and I can make a pendant for you in a day or two.

Handmade Wire Wrapped Sterling Silver Tree of Life Pendant with Purple Orgonite

I've had many requests for purple tree of life pendants. So in my last batch of orgonite making, I've made three purple glow in the dark orgonite cabochons. This is the very first tree of life pendant I have made with the new purple orgonite. And of course it's wrapped with sterling silver wire, antiqued, and polished. This came out great!

Here is a close up view of the new purple orgonite. It's hard to see in the photo, but it does have a decent amount of sparkle in the cabochon.

And here you can see the orgonite cabochon glowing in the dark.

Sterling Silver Tree of Life Wire Wrapped Pendant

This is the very first tree of life pendant I've made with out a cabochon focal. It's a little bit smaller than my usual wire wraps that I make with the oval shaped orgonite. Also it's perfectly round instead of my usual oval shape. I love the way the tree of life turn out on this one. Looks like a bonsai tree. I think I'll be making many more of these. Maybe even some in gold.

This tree of life necklace pendant was hand wrapped in .925 sterling silver wire. To accentuate and accent the wrapped wire, it was oxidized/antiqued and the high areas were polished to a nice luster.

Over 5 hours of craftsmanship, polishing, and buffing went into the creation of this handmade necklace pendant.

Wire Wrapped Tree of Life Pendant With Solar Quartz Crystal

Handmade tree of life solar quartz pendant is wrapped in sterling silver wire. I recently bought a bunch of these solar quartz crystals cause I thought they'd look great in a tree of life pendant. Sterling Silver Glow In The Dark Orgonite Tree of Life

This tree of life necklace pendant was hand wrapped in pure sterling silver wire and a very small amount of silver filled wire. 

The focal in the center is an orgonite cabochon that I made as well. Inside the orgonite cabochon I put mixed metals and beach sand from the gulf coast of Florida.

Turn the lights off and the orgonite pendant glows a bright green.

Over 7 hours of craftsmanship, polishing, and buffing went into the creation of this handmade necklace pendant.

So the pendant can be worn right away, I've included an adjustable slip knot hemp cord until you replace the cord with something better.
